I have several audio cassette tapes and they look actually in very good condition. The tape with obvious damage, has several points where the tape is narrowed where it is folded a little, as well as the chews and a few places where it is kinked, having been sort of folded on itself when rewound in the tape deck years ago.
I've been told where its mangled the tape is essentially useless so would not be digitised, and the rest might not be worth it, but as its an interview with a long deceased relative, anything that can be recovered would be worth the effort to me.
