Hello,

I hope you're well.

I'm writing from a education company looking to archive old lesson material. Unfortunately, this material is on VHS tapes. Most of the tapes were easy to transfer to a digital copy however the video and audio of one of the tapes appears to be affected by deterioration. Both the video and audio has become jumpy and the pitch of the audio appears to fluctuate between high and normal.

When video or audio tapes produce incorrect quality, it often indicates internal issues within the equipment, such as the tape being chewed. To ensure optimal playback quality and prevent potential damage, we strongly advise against playing old tapes without first conducting proper equipment maintenance and tape treatment. This precaution helps minimise friction buildup and ensures a smoother playback experience, ultimately enhancing the overall result.

However, you can still send us the tape for diagnosis, and we're confident that we can most probably improve the outcome for you.

Make sure to include the relevant transfer service as the cost of transfer is not included unless the tape has mould/SSS.

This service cannot be ordered separately; it must be combined with other services.

We only repair tapes to transfer them to DVDs, etc.
Each additional repair on the same tape costs £4.99.

If your tape has mould/SSS, the treatment process will take at least one month. These tapes are old and fragile. Please only play the digital versions you receive (e.g., DVD, MP4, USB) as there is no guarantee they will play on your players.

This service is specifically for repairing snapped or jammed sections of tape, limited to a one-time repair unless you select additional options from the drop-down menu.

We offer this service for the following tape formats: VHS, Super VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C, Video 8, Hi 8, Digital 8, and 8mm tapes.

For moulded and sticky tape cleaning, the price is per tape and includes all transfer costs to DVD and a USB stick.

If you have broken VHS, Super VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C, Video 8, Hi 8, Digital 8, or 8mm tapes in your archive and would like to have them repaired/restored, please give us a call.

As video tapes deteriorate over time, transferring them to digital formats will prevent further damage to your precious video archive and save up to 75% of storage space.
